FF11: My Fun (but not food) Summer Content

Today marks one week until I am in the full swing of things back at school for senior year. I feel like I’ve had to say I’m a senior so many times in the past week since I’ve been home and honestly it freaks me out a little more each time it comes out of my mouth. I’m not freaked out in a scary, unprepared way, but more in disbelief of how time flies and quickly who you are and the life around you can transform and evolve.

In an effort to procrastinate anything productive that might actually prepare me for when I get back to school, I’ve decided to keep it light and fluffy with fun summer memories! Also to prove I don’t just work, work out, and eat (even though that’s mostly true). I saved the best moment of the summer for last, so I hope you enjoy a glimpse of some beautiful moments of the past two months!

My Calling: Cornhole

Sonoma, CA

On probably the hottest, but also most beautiful, Northern California weekend, I went up SF to celebrate my sister’s 25th birthday. We went up to a really cute and very dog friendly winery in Sonoma to taste some wines and picnic. Yeah sure, drinking wine and eating food is fun, but honestly, killing it at cornhole is more fun. I’m shocked I actually was somewhat competent at the game, but regardless it led my sister and I to decide we need to get a set for our parents, so we can just play it all the time whenever we are home.

My Side Hustle: Dog Walking

A Puggle named Puggle
New Haven, CT

I love dogs a lot (an understatement). I applied to be a dog walker and dog sitter of Rover at the beginning of the summer! I would hang out with and walk dogs for free, so getting paid for it sounded like a dream! It lead me on so many adventures around New Haven and I got to meet so many fun dogs – like this Puggle (pug/beagle) named Puggle!

My Favorite: Mom

Santa Barbara, CA

In the middle of the summer, I came home under some not so great circumstances, but I got to spend a week with my Mom, and it made the hell-ish travel day home all worth it. This selfie of us walking on the beach makes me smile every time I see it. Kendra is the best. So are her carrots.

My Motto: Destroy the Patriarchy not the Planet

Philadelphia, PA

I went to Philadelphia to visit my friend for the weekend, and while we were roaming the streets on Saturday afternoon we came across this sign, which led us into the The Outrage. I most definitely don’t need more feminist t-shirts, but you know that didn’t stop me.

My 2nd Home: New Haven

New Haven, CT

The all-encompassing beautiful view of New Haven from the top of East Rock right before sunset. Worth a trip (in the summer or fall).

My Wonderful Weekend: Orange County

Last weekend, I drove down to Orange County for the weekend for my friend, Erin’s birthday! I listened to my new podcast obsession Potterless all the way. I have actually been binging this podcast because I love Harry Potter and it’s bringing me through the books in a whole new and fun way. I could not have asked for a better weekend: hiking, biking, beach, food, and just quality time together. We topped it off with my first time actually working out on the track (yikes) of the summer. It made me so excited to get back to school and with the squad!

My Favorite Moment: Rex

Introducing Rex Feshbach!! I fell in love with this boy the moment I met him. My family adopted him a little over a week ago, and he is fit right in as a part of the fam the moment we brought him home. He follows my mom and I around the house and tries to play with his big brother, Albus, any chance he gets. He is almost 2 years old and such a sweet dog. We adopted him from NorCal Aussie Rescue, and we are so lucky to have him. My mom keeps telling me to stop bonding with him so much because he’s going to be devastated when I leave to go back to school, but what about me?! I am going to be wrecked when I have leave him.

I am grateful to reflect on these light-hearted and lovely moments I shared with friends and family over the summer. It is also the perfect way to close my first set of FFs. I can’t believe I made it through the summer. It has been so much fun. My life is going to look quite different in one week, and I have just the post to go along with it (and yes, I am planning in advance! go me!)

My best friend from high school graduated from college in May (she’s a star and was in and out in 3 years), and in a few weeks, she’s headed to New Hampshire to give her all to Pete 2020. A moment of transition – to put it lightly. A topic that is at the forefront of my mind as I look forward to year ahead of me. She graciously let me pry into who she is and how she got to where she is. The narrative demonstrates what a smart, capable, and kick ass woman she is and embodies a message of empowerment, parallel to that I attempt to exemplify. I’m hoping her story starts another series, in which I can share more about the stories and successes of my friends.

With empowerment, Natasha
